Chandigarh, October 17, 2025 — Haryana Governor Prof. Asim Kumar Ghosh today inaugurated the ‘Ek Diya Desh Ke Naam’ program and flagged off a group of 50 female students from various universities and colleges in Haryana to Kashmir. The students, carrying the message of national unity, will celebrate Diwali with soldiers stationed at the borders. Governor Ghosh’s wife, Mrs. Mitra Ghosh, and his secretary D.K. Behra were also present on the occasion.
The initiative is organized by the Media Students Association, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for selfless service to the nation. Addressing the students, Governor Ghosh said, “If we are celebrating joy safely in our homes today, it is thanks to our brave soldiers who stand vigilant day and night at the borders protecting the nation.”

He lauded the Haryana girls for setting an example of patriotism and social responsibility, highlighting the state’s legacy of valor, courage, and dedication to the nation. He added that Haryana’s daughters are excelling in every field, including education, health, sports, and social work.
The Governor also praised the bravery and commitment of Indian soldiers, recalling their exemplary performance in conflicts including 1948, 1965, 1971, and the Kargil war, which brought pride to the nation.
During the ceremony, Governor Ghosh honored the participating students, their supporting team, and their parents. The awardees included Nancy Nain (Team Leader), Aarti Jangra and Muskaan Duhan (Police Coordinators), Sakshi Singh (Accommodation Management), Hemant Sharma (Media Head), and Aditya (Operations Manager).
Wishing the students success for their national journey, the Governor said, “Haryana’s daughters always set positive examples in society with their values, courage, and patriotism.” He and Mrs. Mitra Ghosh also extended heartfelt Diwali greetings to everyone present.
The students will travel from Raj Bhavan, Haryana, through Jalandhar, Jammu, and South Kashmir’s Anantnag to Srinagar. At each stop, they will interact with security forces and spread messages of patriotism, unity, and harmony. The journey will conclude in Srinagar with a Diwali celebration alongside Indian Army personnel.
Media Students Association President Narendra Singh explained that the organization, consisting of journalists and media students, regularly conducts campaigns and journeys to promote awareness in society.
