Chandigarh, July 24, 2025: Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana has assured that the state government will soon address the genuine demands of commission agents (arhtiyas). He acknowledged the vital role commission agents play as close allies of farmers, working in coordination to ensure smooth agricultural trade operations.
Rana was chairing a meeting of the representatives of the Arhtiya Association in Chandigarh on Wednesday. Also present were Pankaj Agarwal, Principal Secretary of the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department; Anshaj Singh, Director of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs; Mukesh Kumar Ahuja, Chief Administrator of the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board; and Dr. Shaleen, Managing Director of Haryana State Warehousing Corporation Ltd., along with several other officials and office-bearers of the Arhtiya Association.
During the meeting, Rana reiterated the state government’s commitment to welfare and inclusivity, saying it is sensitive to the needs of every section of society. He gave assurance that pending payments of wheat commission to arhtiyas would be released shortly.
The meeting also included detailed discussions on issues such as No-Dues certification for old mandi shops, renewal and issuance of licenses, cleanliness arrangements in mandis, and concerns raised by representatives from the Millers’ Association and the Flour Mill Association.
The agriculture minister carefully listened to all demands and directed the concerned officials to sympathetically consider and resolve all legitimate issues raised by the trading community.
