Chandigarh, October 18, 2025 — Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini assured that the state government will provide full cooperation to the Haryana Human Rights Commission (HHRC) for the protection and promotion of human rights across the state.
The assurance came during a courtesy meeting between Chief Minister Saini and Justice Lalit Batra, Chairperson of the Haryana Human Rights Commission, who presented the commission’s Annual Report for 2024–25. Commission members Kuldeep Jain and Deep Bhatia also accompanied him. The delegation felicitated the Chief Minister with a bouquet and a shawl.
Appreciating the commission’s efforts to ensure timely justice, the Chief Minister discussed its functioning, challenges, and needs in detail. He emphasized that the government is committed to strengthening the commission’s capabilities so that Haryana remains a leader in safeguarding human rights.
During the meeting, Justice Batra informed the Chief Minister about the commission’s outreach activities, including monthly inspections of jails and visits to institutions working for children and the elderly. He further reported that since the commission’s reconstitution in November 2024, it has handled a total of 5,542 cases — disposing of 4,638 of them — leaving only 904 pending as of October 15, 2025.
Justice Batra detailed the commission’s casework progress month-wise, highlighting steady improvements in efficiency. He also noted that during the 32nd Foundation Day of the National Human Rights Commission at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, Haryana’s human rights reforms were recognized for their positive impact.
Earlier, on October 12, Haryana Governor Professor Aseem Kumar Ghosh released the HHRC’s annual report. The delegation meeting the Chief Minister included Registrar Ravi Kumar Sondhi and Protocol, Information, and Public Relations Officer Dr. Puneet Arora.
