Gurugram, September 19 – Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that the state government is continuously working to modernize health facilities, encourage voluntary blood donation, and ensure the quality of blood bank services. He emphasized that Haryana is committed to maintaining the highest standards in blood transfusion services so that safe blood is available to every citizen on time.
The Chief Minister was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the 50th Annual National Conference of the Indian Society of Blood Transfusion and Immunohematology (ISBTI), titled Golden Jubilee Transcon 2025, held in Gurugram. Saini highlighted that Haryana now has 149 functional blood centers with a target of collecting 3.3 lakh units of blood this year, out of which 2,22,433 units have already been collected. He said that Haryana, known as the land of soldiers and farmers, has carved a special place in the field of voluntary blood donation besides being an industrial hub.
The Chief Minister added that the state has made significant improvements in healthcare over the past 11 years. Hospitals with 30 beds have expanded to 100 beds, while 100-bed hospitals have been upgraded to 200 and 200-bed hospitals to 400. He noted that the number of medical graduates has risen from 700 per year in 2014 to 2,600 today, with a target of 3,400 by 2029 through the establishment of new medical colleges in every district.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Fit India–Hit India” campaign, Saini said that Haryana is moving forward with the same vision, as better public health is crucial for faster development.
The Chief Minister also called for promoting next-generation blood testing, AI-based blood matching, and artificial blood research. He stressed the need for mobile apps and web portals under the Digital Health Mission to track blood donation and transfusion, along with high-quality training for technicians and doctors.
Saini further underlined Haryana’s commitment to environmental protection under the “Go Green” initiative, mentioning the ongoing One Tree in Mother’s Name campaign launched last year. Nearly 18 crore trees have been planted in the state since 2014, reflecting Haryana’s seriousness towards ecological balance. On this occasion, doctors excelling in healthcare were also honored.
Cooperative Minister Dr. Arvind Sharma noted the enthusiasm for blood and organ donation during the ongoing Seva Pakhwada, launched on Prime Minister Modi’s birthday.
