Chandigarh, January 8 — In a major boost for beekeepers, the Haryana government has brought honey under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana by fixing a protected price to ensure income security against market fluctuations.
Sharing details of the decision, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana said the move reflects the state government’s farmer-friendly approach and its commitment to promoting allied agricultural activities. He said honey has been assigned a protected price of ₹120 per kilogram under the scheme, which will help beekeepers secure fair returns for their produce despite price volatility.
The minister said beekeeping has emerged as an important supplementary source of income for farmers. Apart from increasing farm earnings, it also plays a crucial role in enhancing crop productivity through pollination. He added that the Haryana government has been consistently encouraging agricultural diversification and that fixing a protected price for honey is a historic step in the interest of beekeepers.
Rana informed that registration and verification under the scheme will be carried out through the Madhukranti Portal (madhukranti.in) and the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana (Honey) portal at hortharyana.gov.in. The registration window will remain open from January 1 to June 30, 2026. Verification of beneficiaries within the territorial limits of Haryana will be mandatory to avail the benefits.
He said beneficiaries will be verified on the basis of their Family Identity Card and bank account details. The verification process will be conducted by authorised officials with complete transparency to ensure that the benefits reach genuine beekeepers.
The agriculture minister said the initiative aligns with the government’s objective of doubling farmers’ income and will encourage farmers and rural youth to take up beekeeping as a viable livelihood option.
Appealing to all beekeepers in the state, Rana urged them to complete their registration within the stipulated timeframe to avail the benefits of the scheme. For further assistance, beneficiaries can contact the helpline number 1800-180-2021.
With this initiative, the Haryana government has once again reaffirmed its strong commitment to farmer welfare and rural development.
