Haryana Congress Accuses BJP of ‘Stealing Votes’, Calls State Number One in Unemployment and Crime

Hisar, November 18 — Haryana Congress President Rao Narender Singh launched a sharp attack on the BJP government on Monday, alleging that the state has reached the top in unemployment, extortion, loot, lawlessness and crimes against women under BJP rule. He also claimed that Haryana is now “number one in vote theft,” accusing the BJP of manipulating elections to “steal the Congress’ democratically elected government.”

Speaking at the ‘Vote Chor–Gaddi Chhod’ campaign event in Hisar, Rao said Congress workers must stay united and raise public awareness to stop alleged vote fraud in the upcoming elections. Party supporters welcomed him with great enthusiasm. MP Deepender Hooda accompanied him during the programme.

Rao said Hisar has always been a leader in education, automobiles and wholesale markets. He recalled Maharaja Agrasen’s contribution to promoting education and said the Congress government continued that legacy. However, he alleged that in the last 11 years of BJP rule, Haryana’s education system has collapsed, unemployment has surged, and law and order has deteriorated. He said cases of extortion and loot have become common, leaving people scared.

He added that farmers were suffering as they neither receive MSP nor the benefit of Bhavantar, and even face police lathi-charge while purchasing fertiliser and seeds. Crimes against women have also risen sharply, he said, citing NCRB reports.

Rao contrasted BJP’s tenure with former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s government, saying Haryana was number one in development, education, power supply and agriculture during the Congress’ rule.

MP Deepender Hooda alleged that Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi had already presented evidence showing large-scale manipulation of voter lists in Haryana. He accused the BJP and Election Commission of adding fake voters and removing genuine ones to form a government “against public sentiment.”

MP Jai Prakash said fair elections are impossible if the Election Commission “functions in coordination with the BJP,” adding that the Congress will continue its fight to save democracy from “vote theft and power theft.”

District Congress leaders stated that awareness drives would be held in every constituency and every village under the ‘Vote Chor–Gaddi Chhod’ campaign.

A large number of party leaders and workers, including MLAs, district presidents, youth leaders, women representatives and NSUI members, were present.

Rao said Rahul Gandhi is fighting not for power but to save democracy and the Constitution. He added that people will decide the outcome of the “fight against vote theft” as they are already troubled by the BJP’s anti-people policies.

BJP and Election Commission Working Together: Rao

Rao Narender Singh accused the Election Commission of acting as the “BJP’s B-team,” alleging that 65 lakh votes were deleted and 22 lakh new votes added under the “SIR process” in Bihar, while the Commission has not released the corresponding data. He alleged widespread distribution of ₹10,000 in women’s accounts during Bihar elections and the arrival of people from other states by train as “poll inducements,” criticising the silence of the Election Commission.

Under the ‘Vote Chor–Gaddi Chhod’ drive, Rao also presented alleged assembly-wise data on fake voters: 22,555 in Adampur, 33,891 in Uklana, 31,342 in Narnaund, 19,213 in Hansi, 22,688 in Barwala, 8,725 in Hisar and 19,877 in Nalwa.

He also targeted the Election Commission using a “Brazilian model” photo as evidence.
