Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini extended his greetings on World Environment Day and made a strong appeal to citizens to actively participate in nature conservation. Speaking at an event held at the PWD Rest House in Ladwa, Kurukshetra, the Chief Minister recalled that on this very day in 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the nationwide ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign. He urged every individual to plant at least one sapling to ensure the success of this ecological mission.
During the event, Chief Minister Saini planted a sapling within the rest house premises and emphasized that humanity’s connection with nature should extend beyond a single day of formal celebration. Describing environmental conservation as a continuous, lifelong process, he highlighted that planting a tree is equivalent to strengthening the foundation of life for future generations. He called upon citizens to not only plant a sapling annually but to also take full responsibility for its care until it grows into a mature tree capable of providing oxygen, shade, and supporting biodiversity.
In addition to the plantation drive, the Chief Minister utilized his visit to interact directly with local residents and party workers. He conducted a public grievance session to hear the issues faced by the citizens of the Ladwa assembly constituency. Following the interaction, he issued immediate on-the-spot directives to administrative officials to resolve the public grievances within a strict timeframe.
Addressing local pollution challenges, Chief Minister Saini stated that the need of the hour is a complete transition away from single-use plastics and polythene products. He requested citizens to adopt eco-friendly alternatives and actively raise awareness within their families and social circles regarding the toxic impact of plastic waste on the regional ecosystem.
The event saw active participation from senior administrative and police leadership, including Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena, Superintendent of Police Chandra Mohan, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Anubhav Mehta, Market Committee Chairman Dr. Ganesh Dutt, and Municipal Chairperson Sakshi Khurana, alongside several prominent local leaders.
