Haryana CM Transfers ₹151 Crore to 36,000 Families Under PM Awas Yojana

Chandigarh, March 20 – Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini today transferred the first installment of ₹151 crore to the bank accounts of 36,000 eligible families under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana (PMAY). Each beneficiary received ₹45,000 as financial aid for building their homes.

The transfer was made during a program held as part of the ongoing Haryana Assembly budget session. All district commissioners and district council CEOs joined the event online. The Chief Minister congratulated the beneficiaries, stating that the dream of owning a house is now becoming a reality for 36,000 families. He said this initiative would mark a new chapter in their lives and contribute to the state’s progress.

Saini highlighted that the state government had promised to provide 5 lakh homes to poor families in urban and rural areas. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the double-engine government is taking significant steps to fulfill this promise. While the state government is offering plots under the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana, the PMAY provides financial support for house construction.

The CM informed that under PMAY-Gramin, 28,815 houses have already been built in rural areas, and 4,238 are under construction. Beneficiaries have received ₹414.32 crore in financial aid. Under Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana 2.0, 4,532 beneficiaries in 62 villages have been provided 100-yard plots. He added that a portal is open for families who missed out on PMAY benefits, allowing them to register and apply for financial aid.

Under PMAY-Urban, 76,141 beneficiaries have been provided financial assistance for home construction. In 14 cities, 15,256 families have been allotted 30-yard plots with basic facilities like sewage, water, roads, and electricity. A portal for booking 15,696 plots in 16 cities was opened on March 17, 2025. Around one lakh people have applied under PMAY-Urban 2.0, and the verification process is ongoing. Eligible beneficiaries will soon receive financial aid to build their homes.

Saini also mentioned a housing policy for migrant workers, under which dormitories and single-room residential complexes will be built in industrial estates. Additionally, 1,600 rental flats are under construction in Sonipat.

The Chief Minister urged officials to raise awareness about these schemes and facilitate registrations to ensure that all eligible families receive housing benefits promptly. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing a roof over every head, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision.
