Chandigarh, September 30, 2025: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday inaugurated 500 renovated Anganwadi buildings built at a cost of ₹15 crore and 64 new centres constructed for ₹9 crore, giving fresh momentum to the state’s early childcare and nutrition infrastructure.
Addressing the state-level event in Kurukshetra marking the 8th anniversary of Poshan Maah (Nutrition Month), the Chief Minister also unveiled a nutrition calendar and honoured Anganwadi workers. He emphasized that the state government is committed to strengthening services linked to nutrition, health, and early education of children and women.
Saini highlighted that more than 10.47 lakh children and 2.67 lakh mothers are benefiting from the Supplementary Nutrition Programme, while schemes such as Mukhyamantri Doodh Uphaar Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana are improving maternal and child health. He also noted that 500 creches are currently operational in Haryana under an expanded policy to support working mothers.
The Chief Minister underlined that “a healthy woman is the foundation of a strong family, and strong families build a strong India.” He urged women to participate in health camps organized nationwide under the Prime Minister’s call for women’s wellness and appealed to communities to make nutrition a daily lifestyle practice rather than a one-time campaign.
Saini further announced that 4,000 Anganwadi centres in the state have been upgraded into play schools, enrolling over 50,000 children aged 3 to 6 years, with an additional 2,000 centres to be converted this financial year.
Speaking at the event, Women and Child Development Minister Shruti Choudhry praised the Prime Minister’s nationwide Poshan Abhiyaan launched in 2018, which she said has now become a mass movement. She informed that between April 2024 and August 2025, over ₹100 crore was directly transferred into the accounts of 2.95 lakh women under the Matru Vandana Yojana, while more than ₹29 crore was disbursed to 59,000 beneficiaries under the state’s maternity assistance scheme.
The minister expressed gratitude for the Chief Minister’s recent initiatives, including the launch of the Deendayal Lado Laxmi Yojana, describing it as a milestone in ensuring women’s empowerment and social security.
Both leaders called on citizens to pledge that every child will be nourished, every woman will be healthy, and every family will be strong, making Haryana and India healthier and more prosperous.
