Haryana CM Slams Previous Governments for Ignoring OBC Needs

Chandigarh (National Times): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini launched a sharp critique of opposition parties on Sunday, accusing them of having overlooked the interests of the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) during their time in power.

Speaking at a community gathering organised to thank the government for its welfare initiatives, Saini said past administrations had failed to show any real commitment to improving the lives of OBC citizens. He labelled their approach as indifferent, saying they lacked the intent to address the pressing concerns of the community.

“The Opposition, particularly parties like the Congress, is now busy creating confusion and spreading misinformation,” Saini said. “But the people are wise enough not to fall into their trap.”

Highlighting the BJP’s repeated mandate in the state, the Chief Minister said, “This is the third consecutive term where people have chosen a government focused on continuity and development. We’re not going to slow down now.”

Pointing to employment and representation, Saini claimed that previous regimes routinely left OBC-reserved posts vacant under the pretext of a lack of suitable candidates. “That excuse doesn’t hold anymore. Today, you’ll find doctors, engineers, and professors from OBC backgrounds holding positions of pride. The talent was always there—it was political will that was missing,” he remarked.

He went on to say that sectors like education and employment are undergoing visible changes, with recruitment processes becoming more transparent and merit-based.

In a move to facilitate access to government jobs, Saini announced logistical support for candidates appearing for the upcoming Common Eligibility Test on July 26 and 27. The state will offer free transportation to and from examination centres, he said, adding, “We’re also making sure female aspirants can be accompanied by a family member to ensure their safety.”

The Chief Minister’s comments come at a time when political narratives around community welfare and equitable representation are gaining momentum ahead of crucial electoral contests.
