Chandigarh, August 23 – Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to cow protection and promotion, announcing significant financial assistance for gaushalas and local development projects.
Addressing an event at Shri Krishna Gaushala in Baropal, Fatehabad, Saini distributed cheques worth ₹7.02 crore as fodder subsidy to 67 gaushalas in the district. He said a total of ₹88.50 crore would be allocated this year for 605 gaushalas across the state.
The Chief Minister also paid tribute to Rajendranand Maharaj, describing his life as an inspiration for social service. He planted a “Triveni” tree under the campaign Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam to spread the message of environmental conservation. Saini further announced ₹21 lakh for the development of Baropal village and declared that the local wildlife treatment center would be named after Rajendranand Maharaj.
Highlighting government initiatives, Saini said the double-engine government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has worked consistently for the preservation of cows, the Gita, and the Ganga. He noted that alongside fodder subsidies, gaushalas are being supported to achieve self-reliance through financial assistance for machinery. As part of this, ₹6.5 crore has been provided to 101 gaushalas for panchgavya production equipment.

Over the past ten and a half years, the state has released ₹358.50 crore in fodder subsidies, installed solar power plants in 330 gaushalas, and initiated the process to equip the remaining ones. The government has also increased the budget for the Gau Seva Aayog from ₹2 crore in 2014-15 to ₹595 crore in 2025. Efforts include building sheds in 200 gaushalas, 51 of which are complete, and plans to provide 800 e-rickshaws.
Saini pointed out that in 2014, Haryana had 215 registered gaushalas with 1.75 lakh cattle, while today the number has grown to 686 housing nearly 4 lakh stray cattle. He linked these initiatives to the National Gokul Mission, launched by Prime Minister Modi to conserve indigenous breeds.
The Chief Minister also stressed Haryana’s role in realizing Modi’s vision of making India a developed nation by 2047. He said the state is implementing welfare schemes to improve lives and contribute significantly to the national goal.
On farmers’ welfare, Saini noted that the government is promoting natural farming, ensuring crop procurement at MSP, and compensating for losses. He contrasted the ₹1,155 crore paid to farmers as compensation between 2004 and 2014 with the ₹15,500 crore provided from 2014 to 2025. He assured that permanent solutions are being developed for waterlogging in Fatehabad and directed HAREDA to check the capacity of solar pumps in the region.
Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister Shyam Singh Rana, present at the event, said the cow holds cultural, historical, and medicinal significance. He emphasized the need to raise awareness and encourage every household to contribute to cow protection. Public Works Minister Ranbir Gangwa, Rajya Sabha MP Subhash Barala, and other leaders were also in attendance, along with a large gathering of villagers.
