Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini attended a Shrimad Bhagwat Katha programme in Sector 34, Chandigarh, on Wednesday, October 21, and highlighted the importance of spiritual values, family relationships and responsible technology use.
Addressing devotees at the event, Saini praised renowned religious storyteller Indresh Upadhyay, saying his narration of Lord Krishna’s life and teachings brings listeners closer to the message of the Bhagavad Gita.
The chief minister said the preacher’s delivery makes devotees feel as though they have travelled back to the time when Lord Krishna imparted the teachings of the Gita to Arjuna. He added that listening to the Bhagwat Katha offered him a sense of peace, spiritual strength and guidance.
CM Highlights Values Over Material Wealth
Saini said success should not be measured only by wealth or material possessions, but also by the values and character a person develops.
He observed that even people with expensive cars and other comforts may lack peace at home. According to him, religious discourses such as the Shrimad Bhagwat Katha help people understand the importance of good values and the deeper purpose of life.
The chief minister also acknowledged the role of saints and religious storytellers in preserving and sharing India’s spiritual traditions with successive generations.
Referring to Kurukshetra in Haryana, he recalled the significance of Lord Krishna’s teachings to Arjuna. He highlighted the principle that people should focus on performing their duties sincerely rather than becoming consumed by expectations about the results.
Saini Urges Parents To Spend More Time With Children
The chief minister also appealed to parents and elderly family members to make time for children despite their busy schedules.
He stressed the importance of regular communication and guidance, saying that family support can help young people avoid harmful company and make informed decisions as they grow.
Addressing the youth, Saini urged them to stay away from despair, anger and negative influences. He also highlighted the need for balanced mobile phone use.
“Mobile phones are in our hands all the time, but we must remain alert that the mobile does not become our master,” was the message conveyed in his address.
His remarks focused on maintaining control over technology rather than allowing constant phone use to dominate everyday life.
CM Refers To Spiritual Heritage And Cultural Sites
Saini also spoke about efforts to preserve India’s cultural and spiritual heritage. He referred to developments at the Ram temple in Ayodhya, the redevelopment of Kedarnath Dham, the Mahakal complex in Ujjain and the Kartarpur Corridor.
He credited the country’s cultural heritage initiatives under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, while reiterating the contribution of saints and sages to the continuity of India’s spiritual traditions.
The programme brought together devotees for the religious discourse, with the chief minister using the occasion to underline the relevance of spiritual teachings, family values and responsible habits in contemporary life.
