Chandigarh (Balaiwnder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday visited the site of the devastating fire incident that occurred in Rohtak’s D-Park area on June 9 and assured affected families and traders of the state government’s full support. Expressing deep sorrow over the tragedy, the Chief Minister announced financial assistance of ₹10 lakh each for the families of the three deceased persons and immediate relief for traders who suffered significant losses in the blaze.
During his visit, Saini inspected the damage caused to shops and interacted with affected business owners. He stated that, according to preliminary information, the fire was triggered by a short circuit in an air conditioner before rapidly spreading through the market and engulfing several establishments.
The Chief Minister expressed condolences over the deaths of Aman Kumar, Rohit Khurana and Kapil Kumar, who lost their lives in the incident. He prayed for peace for the departed souls and extended his sympathies to the bereaved families.
“The government stands firmly with the affected families and traders. While the loss of human life cannot be compensated, every possible effort will be made to support those impacted by this unfortunate incident,” Saini said.
Announcing relief measures, the Chief Minister stated that the families of the deceased would receive financial assistance of ₹10 lakh each from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. He also assured that traders whose businesses suffered extensive damage would be provided immediate financial support.
Under the announced relief package, several affected shop owners will receive compensation of ₹5 lakh each. These include owners of Delhi Shoes, Rohtak Shoes Company, Shoes Plaza, Regal Shoes, Shiv General Store, Bindu General Store, Footlook Footwear and Kailash Boot House.
The Chief Minister also announced assistance for small business operators and street vendors affected by the fire. Operators of Anand Fruit Juice and Sehgal Fruit Juice will receive ₹2 lakh each, while Annapurna Bhojanalaya, Kitchen on Wheels and a cloth kiosk-cum-coconut water stall will be provided financial aid of ₹50,000 each.
Saini said the Urban Local Bodies Department is conducting a detailed assessment of the losses caused by the fire. Based on the report, the government will consider additional compensation and relief measures to ensure maximum assistance reaches those affected.
Describing the market as an old commercial area, the Chief Minister stressed the need for greater vigilance and preventive measures to avoid similar incidents in the future. He assured that appropriate steps would be taken to strengthen fire safety mechanisms and reduce the risk of such accidents.
The Chief Minister also praised the efforts of the Fire Department, district administration and emergency response teams. He noted that firefighters worked continuously for nearly six to seven hours to bring the blaze under control and prevent further damage.
Later, Saini visited the residences of the three deceased victims and personally met their families to offer condolences and support during their time of grief.
Former Minister Manish Kumar Grover, MLA Mahant Balaknath, Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta, Superintendent of Police Gaurav Rajpurohit and several other officials were present during the visit.
