Chandigarh, May 5 – Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini today initiated the plot allocation process for 1.58 lakh applicants under the second phase of the Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana 2.0. This marks a major step towards the state government’s commitment to provide shelter for every poor and needy family.
The allocation will benefit residents of 537 gram panchayats and 24 mahagram panchayats. The official launch took place at the Haryana Civil Secretariat in Chandigarh.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Saini reaffirmed that the government had promised in its election manifesto to ensure housing for the underprivileged in both urban and rural areas. He said the “double-engine” government was actively fulfilling that promise.
He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “housing for all” through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, under which financial aid is provided to build homes. Complementing this, the state-level Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana is being implemented to provide residential plots to poor families.
Highlighting the success of the scheme’s first phase, the CM noted that 4,532 beneficiaries had already been allotted plots via draw in 61 gram panchayats and one mahagram panchayat. In the second phase, the government aims to allocate plots to 1.58 lakh applicants. Under the scheme, eligible applicants from gram panchayats will receive 100-square-yard plots, while those from mahagram panchayats will be allotted 50-square-yard plots.
CM Saini emphasized that such welfare measures are not just schemes but missions to improve lives and ensure dignity for all.
