Haryana CM Announces Rs 3 Lakh Assistance for Ayush Yoga Sahayak Families; Launches Yoga-Centric Reforms Ahead of International Yoga Day

Chandigarh, May 27, 2025 – Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday announced Rs 3 lakh ex-gratia assistance to the families of Ayush Yoga Sahayaks who lose their lives in accidents during service. He also revealed that registration of Yoga and Naturopathy practitioners will formally begin this year.

Speaking at a grand Yoga Mahotsav in Panchkula, where 264 winners of the ‘Surya Namaskar 2025’ campaign were felicitated, Saini declared that Yoga, Sports, and other co-curricular subjects will now be part of Haryana’s formal school curriculum with examinations to assess student progress. Yoga is already being taught from Classes 1 to 10 and will now be extended up to Class 12, with 25,000 education personnel trained as Yoga instructors.

The Chief Minister also launched three digital portals to bring transparency and efficiency to the Ayush Department:

1. E-Marketplace Portal for medicinal plant suppliers


2. Ayush Medicine Inventory Portal to track demand and stock


3. E-Medicine Licensing Portal for simplified licensing procedures



Emphasizing the global relevance of Yoga, Saini hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for “Fit India – Hit India,” recalling that India led the global effort to have June 21 recognized as International Yoga Day by the United Nations with support from 177 countries.

The CM also reiterated the state’s ambition to become a national model for health and wellness, citing initiatives such as:

1. Upgrading 506 Ayurvedic dispensaries into Ayush Health and Wellness Centres

2. Operationalizing OPD services at Jhajjar’s Postgraduate Yoga and Naturopathy Research Institute

3. Establishing vyayamshalas in 6,500 villages, with 714 already built

4. Appointing 877 Ayush Yoga Sahayaks and 126 Yoga Instructors


He urged youth to integrate Yoga into their daily routine as a holistic practice. The CM also released the meditation diary The Daily Pause by Madhu Pandit, and two publications from Haryana Yog Aayog.

Ayush Minister Kumari Arti Singh Rao praised the citizens’ growing enthusiasm for Yoga and called the Yoga Mahotsav a prelude to a grand celebration of International Yoga Day on June 21.

Chairman of the Haryana Yog Aayog, Dr. Jaideep Arya, emphasized the potential to send trained Yoga professionals abroad and said Haryana remains the only state with Yoga formally integrated into school education.

The event concluded with a vision to transform Yoga into a mass movement across Haryana.
