Haryana CM Announces Major Solar Panel Incentives for Low-Income Families

Chandigarh, July 30, 2025 – In a significant push for renewable energy and rural development, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced major incentives for families installing rooftop solar panels under the Pradhan Mantri Muft Bijli Yojana. Addressing a public gathering at the ‘Dhanywadi Karyakaram’ in villages Gudhi, Jogi Majra, Bakali, and Niwarsi of the Ladwa Assembly constituency, the Chief Minister said that dedicated teams of officials would visit each village to oversee the solar panel installation process. Families earning less than ₹1.80 lakh annually will be eligible for a 2 kW solar panel, with ₹70,000 of the cost covered by the Central Government and the remainder by the State.

Saini emphasized that families equipped with solar panels would receive electricity at no cost. The government aims to install solar panels on one lakh homes this year, of which 26,000 households have already benefited. He reiterated the government’s commitment to efficient implementation, noting that this step would ease financial burdens on rural families while promoting sustainable energy.

During the visit, the Chief Minister also inaugurated a sports stadium in Dhanora Jatan, built at a cost of ₹2.73 crore, and sanctioned substantial funds for water infrastructure and village development. Specific allocations included ₹23.04 lakh for a drinking water pipeline in Gudhi, ₹70.44 lakh for Bakali, and ₹22 lakh for Jogi Majra. He also pledged ₹21 lakh for development in each village he visited and promised to forward sarpanches’ requests to the concerned departments for swift action.

Saini highlighted that since the current government came to power for the third term, development funds of ₹57 lakh for Gudhi, ₹1.40 crore for Bakali, and ₹2.78 crore for Niwarsi have already been released. Addressing concerns over recent crop losses due to heavy rains, he assured the public that the state government has disbursed ₹1,334 crore in compensation directly to the affected farmers’ bank accounts.
