Chandigarh, March 7 – On the first day of the Haryana Assembly’s Budget Session, the House observed a moment of silence and passed condolence resolutions in honor of eminent personalities, freedom fighters, and martyrs who passed away during the previous and current session.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini led the House in reading the condolence resolutions, followed by Speaker Harvinder Kalyan, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and Karan Chautala, who paid tribute on behalf of their respective parties. The House, including officials, media personnel, and staff, stood in silence for two minutes to pray for the departed souls.
The Assembly paid homage to several distinguished individuals, including former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, a Padma Vibhushan awardee, former Haryana Chief Minister Chaudhary Om Prakash Chautala, former Haryana Minister Satpal Sangwan, Dr. Kripa Ram Poonia, and former Haryana Assembly members Surinder Singh Aujla, Chaudhary Karm Singh, and Hem Raj. The House also honored freedom fighter Sardar Baj Singh from Beed Babran village in Hisar.
Along with these tributes, the Assembly recognized the ultimate sacrifice of 22 brave soldiers from Haryana who laid down their lives in the line of duty. Among them were Subedar Sunil Kumar from Panipat, Subedar Surajmal from Jhajjar, Subedar Narendra Singh from Rewari, Inspector Sandeep from Mahendragarh, Inspector Dharmveer from Rewari, ASI Agnivesh from Mahendragarh, ASI Surender Ahlawat from Jhajjar, Havaldar Rajkumar from Mahendragarh, and Head Constable Sunil Kumar Hooda from Rohtak. Other martyrs included Manoj Kumar from Jhajjar, Deepak Kumar from Sonipat, Manjeet Kumar from Bhiwani, Mohit Jangra from Jhajjar, and Sandeep Singh from Hisar, among others.
The Assembly also expressed condolences on the passing of family members of several political figures. Among them were Rajpal Singh Nagar, uncle of Union Minister Krishna Pal Gurjar; Shanti Devi, aunt of Minister Dr. Arvind Kumar Sharma; Birja Choudhary, mother-in-law of Minister Shruti Choudhary; Prem Lal Sharma, brother-in-law of Rajya Sabha MP Rekha Sharma; Maya Devi, sister of MLA Ram Kumar Gautam; and Usha Kadian, sister of MLA Sunil Sangwan.
By observing these tributes, the Haryana Assembly honored the contributions and sacrifices of leaders, soldiers, and freedom fighters, ensuring their legacy is remembered.
