Haryana Assembly Passes Resolution Against Glorification of Criminals on Media Platforms

Chandigarh, August 27 – The monsoon session of the Haryana Assembly proved significant on several counts. During a discussion on a suspension motion brought by the opposition over law and order, members expressed concern that certain social media platforms were increasingly glorifying gangsters and criminals. After a detailed debate, the House unanimously passed a resolution urging media platforms to discourage such practices.

Development and Panchayat Minister Krishan Lal Panwar, presenting the resolution on behalf of the government, said glorifying criminals portrays them as heroes among the youth. He stressed that this trend not only weakens the cultural and moral fabric of society but also undermines the tireless efforts of the police in maintaining law and order.

The minister emphasized that media outlets must refrain from glorifying criminals and gangsters in any form. He insisted that their names and photographs should not be published.

The Assembly unanimously adopted the resolution, making a strong appeal to media platforms to consciously discourage glorification of criminals. Instead, they were urged to highlight personalities and ideas that inspire the younger generation to pursue education, hard work, and truth.

Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan also supported the resolution and assured that the Haryana Assembly would convey it to all media institutions.
