Haryana Approves Projects Worth Over ₹718 Crore; Saves Over ₹26 Crore Through Negotiations

Chandigarh, June 27 — Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini presided over a meeting of the High Powered Purchase Committee (HPPC) and the High Powered Works Purchase Committee (HPWPC) held here today, during which contracts and procurements worth over ₹718 crore were approved. Through negotiations with various bidders, the state achieved savings exceeding ₹26 crore.

The meeting was attended by Cabinet Ministers Mahipal Dhanda, Vipul Goel, Shyam Singh Rana, Ranbir Gangwa, and Shruti Choudhary.

The committees approved a rate contract worth approximately ₹132 crore for the manufacturing and supply of transmission line towers, substation structures, and HT underground cables for the financial year 2024-25 for Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam. Additionally, approval was granted for strengthening distribution infrastructure under the revamped distribution sector scheme (RDSS) in Narayangarh Division of Ambala district, with an estimated cost of ₹53.86 crore to reduce aggregate technical and commercial losses (AT&C losses).

The meeting also approved the purchase of approximately 220 lakh doses of FMD Pulse HS dual vaccine for the Animal Husbandry and Dairy Department to prevent Hemorrhagic Septicemia and Foot and Mouth Disease in livestock. This procurement will cost about ₹73.45 crore. Officials shared that Haryana is currently free from these diseases and continues to conduct vaccination campaigns twice annually.

GMDA Projects Worth Over ₹127 Crore Get Nod

Approval was given for upgrading the existing 120 MLD STP at Behrampur to further improve treated water quality, at a cost of about ₹33.88 crore. Moreover, Gurugram city’s existing 100 MLD sewage treatment plant will be upgraded, and a 75 MLD tertiary treatment plant will be established, with an estimated expenditure of ₹51.34 crore.

The Chief Minister issued clear directions to increase the use of treated water. He stressed that industries should be supplied with treated water based on their requirements to reduce the consumption of fresh water and prevent depletion of groundwater.

Additionally, the committee approved procurement and maintenance of non-medical equipment worth about ₹26.95 crore for Shri Sheetla Mata Devi Medical College, Sector-102A, Kherki Majra, Gurugram. The relocation of recycled pipelines along various locations on Dwarka Expressway in the city was also approved, at a cost of around ₹14.90 crore.

Projects of the Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority (FMDA) were also sanctioned. A pipeline will be laid for water supply in Faridabad, benefitting NIT and Ballabhgarh areas, at an estimated cost of ₹13.85 crore. Furthermore, approval was given for cleaning and maintenance of master sewerage and drain lines in Faridabad city, with an outlay of approximately ₹21.35 crore. A bus depot for electric buses under the city bus service will be constructed in Sector-61, Faridabad, including a charging station, with an allocation of ₹18.48 crore.

Expansion of Health Infrastructure

Approval was granted for the construction of a girls’ hostel at Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak, at a cost of ₹23.64 crore. Moreover, a 100-bed Mother and Child Hospital (MCH) block will be constructed in the civil hospital premises in Sonipat district at a cost of around ₹49 crore. Similarly, a 100-bed MCH block will be built at SHKM Government Medical College, Nalhar, in Nuh district, costing ₹27.95 crore.

Push for Infrastructure Development

Approval was given for the construction of ROBs and RUBs, including on the Jind-Panipat railway section and the Delhi-Ambala section. Additionally, the two-lane ROB on the Mumbai-Delhi railway line on LC-575B at Ballabhgarh-Pali-Dhauj-Sohna road will be expanded to four lanes. Construction of an RUB on LC No. 576 from Delhi-Mathura road crossing to Mujesar on the Delhi-Mathura railway line in Faridabad district was also approved. These projects are estimated to cost around ₹109 crore.

Present at the meeting were Principal Advisor for Urban Development D.S. Dhesi, Additional Chief Secretary for the School Education Department Vineet Garg, Additional Chief Secretary for the Irrigation and Water Resources Department Anurag Aggarwal, Commissioner and Secretary-I for the Finance Department Mohammad Shayin, Director General of the Supplies and Disposal Department Pankaj, along with administrative secretaries of relevant departments.
