Hoshiarpur, Punjab (National Times): In a major political development, Harjinder Singh Dhami has decided to withdraw his resignation after a productive meeting with Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal, interim party president Balwinder Singh Bhunder, and other prominent party leaders at his Hoshiarpur residence.
Following the meeting, Dhami confirmed his decision to rejoin the party and take charge again in the coming days. “For a while now, SGPC members, SAD leaders, and many others have been urging me to reconsider my resignation. After much thought, I have decided to return to my position. In the next 3-4 days, I will officially assume charge once again,” Dhami said.
The meeting, which lasted for several hours, was an attempt by SAD leaders to convince Dhami to reconsider his decision and remain part of the party’s future. His decision to retract the resignation is being seen as a crucial step towards reinforcing party unity during challenging times.
Sukhbir Singh Badal, in his remarks after the meeting, expressed his gratitude to Dhami for reconsidering his resignation. “Dhami Ji has a long and distinguished journey behind him. He has been a key figure for us. At this crucial time, when we are under various pressures, unity is of utmost importance. I am extremely happy that Dhami Ji has agreed to stay, and I thank him for his decision,” Badal said.
The withdrawal of Dhami’s resignation has been welcomed within the Shiromani Akali Dal, with leaders praising his commitment to the party and the people of Punjab. Dhami’s return is expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening the party’s position and ensuring its continuity in the region’s political landscape.
As the next few days unfold, the focus will be on Dhami’s renewed involvement in the party and his role in shaping SAD’s future direction.
