Gurugram, August 2 – A large-scale Jungle Safari proposed across 10,000 acres in Gurugram and Nuh districts is set to become a major tourism attraction in Haryana, according to Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs and Energy, Manohar Lal, and Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav. The ministers visited the proposed site near Sakatpur village on Saturday to review the initial plan, joined by Haryana Forest Minister Rao Narbir Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, Manohar Lal highlighted the immense tourism potential of the Aravalli hills, which run through Haryana. He said the Jungle Safari would help protect the region’s natural beauty, biodiversity, and historical heritage while offering world-class facilities to attract domestic and international tourists. The project will be developed in four phases, with the first phase covering 2,500 acres.
The Union Minister emphasized that the safari would boost eco-tourism in the Aravalli region and promote environmental conservation and wildlife awareness while also generating employment opportunities for local communities.
Union Minister Bhupender Yadav assured full support from the Centre for the ambitious project, calling it a key initiative near the national capital. After inspecting the site, he reviewed the first-phase proposal and held detailed discussions with senior officials from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and the Haryana Forest Department. Yadav also stated that the ecosystem will be designed using native plant species to support local wildlife, ensuring a balanced and sustainable development approach.
Haryana’s Forest Minister Rao Narbir Singh welcomed the central ministers during their visit and confirmed that both the state and central governments would jointly implement the project. Four entry gates are planned for the safari, located near Sohna on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, the Taoru-Sohna road, near Naurangpur, and at Sakatpur village. Singh added that extensive planning is underway and that models from Sharjah Safari, Vantara in Jamnagar, and the Gir Forest have been studied for reference.
The ministers also reviewed the jungle safari’s initial designs and a documentary presentation by the Haryana Forest Department. The event was attended by senior officials including Additional Chief Secretary Anand Mohan Sharan, PCCF (HoFF) Vineet Garg, PCCF Wildlife Vivek Saxena, PCCF Atul J. Siskar, HFDCL MD K.C. Meena, CCF T.P. Singh, Gurugram Conservator Subhash Yadav, along with Gurugram DC Ajay Kumar, CP Vikas Arora, and commissioners from Gurugram and Manesar municipal corporations.
