Gunfire Exchange During Police Raid on Drug Peddlers in Jalandhar

National Times Bureau :- In a major anti-drug operation, Punjab Police’s Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) raided a suspected drug trafficking hideout in the village of Gorsian near Nakodar, Jalandhar. The raid, conducted early Friday morning, led to a fierce exchange of gunfire between the police and the accused.

The ANTF had received intelligence that a notorious drug trafficker, Sunny Singh, along with his accomplices, was planning a large-scale distribution of narcotics. Acting on the tip-off, a police team launched a raid on the location.

As soon as the team reached the spot, the suspects opened fire on the police, leading to a gun battle. Sunny Singh and his two associates launched a violent attack, during which one of the accused, Davinder Singh, sustained gunshot injuries. He was immediately taken to the hospital and is currently in stable condition.

However, Sunny Singh and another accomplice managed to escape during the encounter. Police teams have cordoned off the area and a search operation is underway to apprehend the fugitives.

According to ANTF officials, the operation is part of the Punjab Government’s zero-tolerance policy against drug mafia activities. Police also confirmed that multiple criminal cases are already registered against Sunny Singh and his gang, including drug trafficking and illegal possession of firearms.

No police personnel were injured in the operation. Authorities remain confident that the remaining suspects will be caught soon, as several police teams continue active raids in surrounding areas.
