Amritsar, March 14, 2025 – A widening rift within the Damdami Taksal surfaced as Sri Akal Takht Jathedar and Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Jathedar, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, met with Damdami Taksal Chief Bhai Ram Singh Sangravan at his residence to discuss key Panthic issues.
During the meeting, the two Sikh leaders addressed challenges facing the Sikh community and strategies for strengthening religious outreach. Bhai Ram Singh extended his full support to Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj for advancing Panthic initiatives. As a gesture of respect, Bhai Ram Singh honored Gargaj with a traditional dastaar (turban) and a siropa (robe of honor).
Panthic Convention Challenges SGPC Decisions
The meeting comes amid heightened tensions following a recent Panthic convention held at Sri Anandpur Sahib. The convention, led by Sant Baba Harnam Singh Khalsa and attended by several Sikh organizations, strongly opposed the SGPC’s recent decisions regarding the appointment of new Takht Jathedars.
The gathering passed six resolutions rejecting the SGPC Executive Committee’s moves and demanded the reinstatement of previously dismissed Jathedars. The Sikh community’s united stand reflects growing dissatisfaction with the SGPC’s leadership and decision-making process.
With Bhai Ram Singh and Jathedar Gargaj showing unity, the Sikh leadership appears to be aligning to address the internal divide and strengthen Panthic unity.
