Governor Kataria Celebrates Bihar Foundation Day; Highlights Spiritual Bond with Punjab

Chandigarh (Naval Kishore): The cultural and historical ties between Punjab and Bihar were celebrated with high enthusiasm at Punjab Raj Bhavan on Sunday, March 22, 2026. Presiding over the Bihar Foundation Day function, Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, accompanied by his wife Smt. Anita Kataria, extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of Bihar. The Governor emphasized that Bihar’s rich intellectual and spiritual heritage continues to play a pivotal role in shaping India’s national identity and progress.

A significant highlight of the Governor’s address was the mention of the deep-rooted spiritual connection between the two states. He noted that the bond between Punjab and Bihar is uniquely strengthened by Takht Sri Patna Sahib, the birthplace of the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh. Describing it as a symbol of courage, devotion, and service, Kataria stated that this shared legacy reflects the true essence of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat,” fostering a lasting relationship between the Punjabi and Bihari communities based on mutual respect and harmony.

The celebration featured a vibrant showcase of Bihar’s folk traditions, organized by the North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC). The audience was treated to traditional performances including the Jhijhiya and Jat Jatin dances, as well as a cultural presentation on the Chhath Puja festival. The event also included a special video message from the Governor of Bihar and a documentary film highlighting the state’s journey from being the cradle of ancient civilizations like Magadha to its modern-day contributions to governance and education.

The function was attended by several high-ranking officials, including the Additional Solicitor General of India, Shri Satya Pal Jain, and the Chief Secretaries of both Punjab and Chandigarh. Governor Kataria concluded by praising the hard work and talent of the people of Bihar, calling upon all citizens to maintain social harmony and work collectively toward a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India).
