Government Under PM Modi Working Tirelessly for Farmers’ Welfare: Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini

Chandigarh, October 23: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, both the Central and State governments are consistently working in the interest of farmers. Whether it is the increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for sugarcane or procurement of paddy and wheat at MSP, every decision aims to boost farmers’ income, he added.

The Chief Minister made these remarks while interacting with farmers at his official residence, Sant Kabir Kutir. Several farmers from Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar, and nearby areas met him on the occasion of Diwali to express their gratitude for the recent hike in sugarcane MSP. Overjoyed by the announcement, the farmers thanked CM Saini and Prime Minister Modi, calling the increase a “Diwali gift” for the farming community.

CM Saini said the State Government has raised the price of early-maturing sugarcane from ₹400 to ₹415 per quintal and the late-maturing variety from ₹393 to ₹408 per quintal. He said this increase not only honors the farmers’ hard work and dedication but also strengthens their financial condition.

He emphasized that this decision will accelerate Haryana’s agricultural economy while reinforcing the government’s commitment to farmers’ welfare. “By offering the highest sugarcane support price in the country, Haryana aims to ensure prosperity and happiness in the lives of its farmers,” he said.

Saini also highlighted that Haryana is the first state in India to procure all 24 notified crops at MSP and ensure payment to farmers within 48 hours. He mentioned that through the Meri Fasal Mera Byora portal, ₹1.58 lakh crore has been directly transferred to the bank accounts of 12 lakh farmers over the past 11 seasons under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

The Chief Minister further noted that Haryana was the first state to implement the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana. Under this scheme, 29,864 farmers growing 21 fruits, vegetables, and spices have received ₹135.37 crore directly in their bank accounts as incentive payments.

Highlighting disaster relief measures, CM Saini said the state has increased crop compensation to ₹15,000 per acre for losses due to heavy rains or other calamities. Additionally, under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, 33 lakh farmers have received insurance claims worth ₹9,626 crore. Over the past 11 years, farmers have been compensated with ₹15,627 crore for crop losses due to natural disasters.

During the interaction, Saini also sought feedback from farmers on procurement arrangements in grain markets for paddy and other crops. Farmers expressed satisfaction with the mandi system and said they faced no inconvenience while selling their produce.

The meeting was attended by Market Committee Pehowa Chairman Tarun Wadech, Yamunanagar’s Ramgopal Rana, former Bilaspur Sarpanch Rajkumar, Jalbehra’s Madan Rana, Sarpanch Balwinder Singh, Jagjit Singh, Nambardar Gyan Singh, and a large number of farmers.
