New Delhi, September 9 – Gold prices surged to an unprecedented ₹1,12,750 per 10 grams in the national capital on Tuesday, rising by ₹5,080 in a single session amid strong international trends.
According to the All India Sarafa Association, gold of 99.9 per cent purity had settled at ₹1,07,670 per 10 grams on Monday. Silver also joined the rally, climbing ₹2,800 to reach an all-time high of ₹1,28,800 per kilogram, inclusive of taxes, against ₹1,26,000 per kg in the previous trade.
In global markets, bullion prices hit fresh highs with gold touching $3,659.27 per ounce before easing slightly to $3,652.72, still up $16.81 or 0.46 per cent.
Market experts said weak US labour market data released last week heightened expectations of monetary policy easing, prompting investors to shift towards safe-haven assets like gold. The weakening of the US dollar further supported the upward momentum, with the dollar index slipping 0.17 per cent to 97.29.
