National Times Bureau :- Newly appointed president of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Giani Harpreet Singh, on Monday visited the residence of senior Akali leader Dr. Rattan Singh Ajnala in Majha. Addressing a large gathering there, he called upon people to unite and work towards rebuilding and strengthening the party.
Singh expressed gratitude to Dr. Ajnala for his long-standing commitment to the Akali Dal and said that all veteran Akali families who once contributed to the party’s rise would be brought back into its fold.
“I am not here to become a sarpanch, MLA, or chief minister. My only mission is to serve the Panth and the community,” he declared.
Concern Over Misuse of AI
The SAD president voiced concern over the misuse of Artificial Intelligence (AI), warning that the technology was being used in ways that were eroding morality and weakening social bonds.
Tarn Taran By-Poll to Be Discussed Collectively
On the upcoming Tarn Taran by-election, Singh said the issue would be discussed on the party platform and a final decision would be taken only after considering everyone’s opinion. “Our first priority is to prepare and strengthen the party’s structure,” he noted.
On Party Symbol
Regarding the party symbol, Singh remarked:
“We are going to the court of the Sangat. Whatever symbol the Sangat blesses us with, that is what we will accept.”
Sharp Response to Critics
Taking a swipe at his critics, Singh said:
“Those making baseless remarks about me should consult a good doctor or vaid (traditional physician). Maybe then they will learn to respect me.”
