G. Nageswara Rao Takes Charge as Punjab Vigilance Bureau Chief, Vows Crackdown on Corruption

Chandigarh, February 18, 2025: Senior IPS officer G. Nageswara Rao has officially assumed charge as the Chief Director of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) at Vigilance Bhawan, SAS Nagar.

Zero Tolerance for Corruption

Reiterating Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s vision for a corruption-free Punjab, Rao stressed the government’s unwavering zero-tolerance policy. He promised strict action against corruption in all government departments.

In his first address as VB Chief, Rao emphasized administrative efficiency and transparency. He assured that corruption-related cases and Vigilance Enquiries (VEs) would be thoroughly investigated, with legal proceedings ensuring strict punishment for the guilty.

Warning to Officials: No Room for Corruption

Sending a stern message, Rao warned that corrupt officials within the Vigilance Bureau itself would not be spared. He urged vigilance officers to remain proactive, diligent, and uncompromising in their mission.

Encouraging Public Participation

Acknowledging the role of citizens, Rao encouraged the public to report corruption through the Chief Minister’s Anti-Corruption Action Line, strengthening transparency and accountability in governance.

High-Level Review Meeting Scheduled

To assess ongoing vigilance operations, Rao has scheduled a high-level meeting with all VB SSPs on February 19 at SAS Nagar. The meeting will focus on pending cases and vigilance inquiries.
