Amritsar (Gurpreet Singh): Stepping up its investigation into the missing saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Tuesday carried out search operations at several locations across Punjab and the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
Officials said the coordinated exercise covered about 15 premises in Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Ropar and Chandigarh. The locations included homes and workplaces associated with 16 persons who are under scrutiny in connection with the case involving the disappearance of 328 saroops.
Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, who is closely monitoring the investigation, confirmed the development and said the SIT was proceeding in a transparent and lawful manner. He stressed that the inquiry was being guided solely by evidence gathered during the course of the probe.
Bhullar noted that every relevant piece of information and material evidence would be properly documented and placed before the authorities as the investigation advances. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to ensuring justice in the matter.
The police commissioner also made it clear that the investigation would not stop midway and that accountability would be fixed. He cautioned that no individual found to be involved would receive any leniency, irrespective of their standing or connections.
The case, which has evoked strong sentiments, continues to be treated as a top priority, with the latest searches reflecting the SIT’s intent to uncover the truth behind the disappearance of the sacred scriptures.
