Jaipur, November 3, 2025: A bustling road in Jaipur’s Harmada area turned into a horrific scene of destruction on Monday afternoon after a speeding dumper truck rammed into at least 17 vehicles, killing 14 people and injuring 13 others. The tragic accident occurred near Loha Mandi, leaving mangled cars, crushed motorcycles, and bodies scattered across a 300-metre stretch of the road.
According to police, the dumper’s driver, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, lost control and ploughed through multiple vehicles before finally crashing into a trailer truck. Eyewitnesses described the scene as a “massacre,” with locals rushing to rescue victims trapped inside vehicles and pull bodies from the wreckage.
District Collector Jitendra Soni confirmed that 14 people were killed, while 13 others, several in critical condition, were admitted to the trauma centre at SMS Hospital. “The dumper came speeding from Road No. 14 toward the Loha Mandi petrol pump, hitting everything in its path,” he said.
Additional Police Commissioner Rajiv Pachar stated that the driver was driving recklessly and continued to accelerate after hitting the first car. “He ran over pedestrians and bikers before colliding with a trailer. Locals caught him and handed him over to the police,” he said, adding that a medical examination would confirm whether the driver was intoxicated.
CCTV footage later revealed the dumper moving at over 100 kmph, crashing into vehicles and running over motorcyclists in a terrifying sequence.
President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, and former CM Ashok Gehlot expressed condolences. PM Modi announced ₹2 lakh ex-gratia from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for the kin of each deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured. “Pained by the loss of lives due to a mishap in Jaipur. My thoughts are with those who have lost their near and dear ones,” the Prime Minister wrote on X.
Among the victims were members of a family from Agra returning from Khatushyamji. “Our car was parked on the roadside when the dumper hit it from behind. Five of us were injured,” said survivor Nanji Bhai. Another victim, Mahendra (38), a weaver, was killed along with his niece Bhanu (5), while another niece Varsha (19) is battling for life in the trauma centre.
Following the accident, locals staged protests demanding stricter enforcement of road safety laws. Authorities from the Jaipur Municipal Corporation removed illegal roadside encroachments after the incident.
This is the second major road accident in Rajasthan within two days. On Sunday evening, 15 people died and two were injured when a tempo traveller rammed into a stationary trailer truck in Phalodi.
