Faridabad (Balwinder Singh): In a major blow to local criminal networks, Faridabad Crime Branch (Sector 30) teams carried out two back-to-back armed operations in the early hours of Saturday, leading to the arrest of four gang members, including two who were injured in police crossfire. A Sub-Inspector narrowly escaped serious injury after being struck by a bullet that was stopped by his bulletproof vest.
The encounters took place at two different locations—Badkhal-Pali Road and Surajkund Road—and involved heavily armed suspects who opened fire on police when intercepted.
Encounter One: Kamal Bhadana and Golu Nabbed Near Sainik Colony
The first exchange of gunfire occurred near the Sainik Colony police post on Badkhal-Pali Road, after intelligence inputs suggested that Kamal Bhadana, a wanted figure in a high-profile extortion case, would be passing through the area with his associate Golu.
At around 4 AM, a team from Crime Branch Sector 30 set up a covert checkpoint and attempted to stop the suspects. Upon confrontation, the two opened fire at the police team. A brief encounter followed, during which Kamal Bhadana was shot in the leg. Both he and Golu were taken into custody.
According to police, Bhadana was wanted for opening fire outside a local businessman’s house in April this year, demanding a ransom of ₹2 crore. He had been absconding ever since, with a case registered against him at Saran Police Station.
Weapons Recovered
From the duo, officers recovered a significant cache of weapons, including:
- Three country-made pistols
- Two regular pistols
- One additional pistol with a magazine
- Four live rounds
Second Encounter: Arrest on Surajkund Road
In a separate operation, conducted around the same time, police tracked two more suspects—Shashikant alias Chhidda and his associate Rohit—moving through Surajkund Road, reportedly planning a criminal act.
Upon being challenged by police, the pair also opened fire. In the exchange, Shashikant was shot in the leg and immediately subdued. Rohit was captured at the scene without injury.
Two illegal firearms were recovered from them.
Officer Injured, Saved by Body Armor
During the Badkhal encounter, Sub-Inspector Vijay Kumar came under fire and was struck by a bullet. Fortunately, the round did not penetrate his bulletproof vest, and he was unharmed.
“Had it not been for the protective gear, the outcome could have been very different. Our officer is safe and continuing with the investigation,” a senior officer from the team stated.
All Belong to Same Criminal Network
According to Anil Kumar, in-charge of Sector 30 Crime Branch, all four arrested individuals are part of the same gang, known for its involvement in violent crime, extortion, and illegal arms dealings.
“These were well-coordinated operations based on concrete intelligence. Both shootouts led to successful arrests and recovery of illegal weapons. Two injured suspects are receiving treatment at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi,” he said.
