Four Bambiha Gang Associates Held After Gunfire Exchange in Barnala

Barnala: In a significant operation against organised crime, Barnala Police have arrested four active members of the Devinder Bambiha gang while foiling a robbery plan. The accused — identified as Satnam Singh alias Satti, Gurpreet alias Guri, Sarm Singh alias Rinku, and Deepak Singh — were taken into custody following a naka checking drive.

Officials stated that the suspects opened fire on the police party when signaled to stop. The officers retaliated with restraint, managed to overpower them, and secured their vehicle. No casualties were reported in the exchange.

From their possession, police recovered four firearms, including a Zigana pistol, three pistols of .30 and .32 bore, and several live cartridges.

Satnam Singh is said to be a hardened criminal with over 22 previous cases ranging from murder and attempt to murder to Arms Act and NDPS violations. His associates Sarm Singh and Deepak Singh are also suspected to be involved in narcotics-related activities.

Punjab DGP described the arrests as a “major success” in curbing gangster activity. “The Punjab Police remains determined to break the backbone of organised crime and ensure the safety of citizens,” he said.

Further questioning of the accused is underway, and police anticipate more crucial disclosures in the ongoing investigation.
