Ferozepur Double Murder Case: Three Ashish Chopra Gang Associates Held, One Linked to Another Killing

Ferozepur (Punjab), May 25, 2025: In a major breakthrough under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s directive to ensure a crime-free Punjab, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) and Ferozepur Police have arrested three members of the Ashish Chopra Gang in connection with the double murder of Rishabh and Shalu. The murders were the result of a gang rivalry between the Nata and Ashish Chopra gangs, Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav confirmed on Sunday.

The arrested individuals—Manpreet Singh alias Mannu and Ramandeep Singh of Ferozepur, and Sonu of Faridkot—were found in possession of three pistols, seven live cartridges, and four spent shells. Crucially, the arrests have also helped police solve another murder case involving a victim named Yotham, in which Manpreet Mannu is identified as the main shooter.

DGP Yadav stated that investigations are ongoing to identify other members of the gang and establish both backward and forward linkages in their criminal operations.

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) AGTF Promod Ban provided further details, noting that based on specific intelligence, teams led by DSP Rajan Parminder raided a hideout in Gulabe Wala village, Sri Muktsar Sahib. Ramandeep and Sonu tried to flee and fired at the police before being apprehended. An FIR (No. 89 dated 24/05/2025) under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Arms Act was registered at Police Station Sadar Sri Muktsar Sahib.

In a separate operation, Manpreet Mannu was intercepted in Ferozepur and also opened fire at police. He was injured in retaliatory fire and arrested. Police recovered a Hero HF Deluxe motorcycle from him, and another FIR was filed at Police Station City Ferozepur.

SSP Ferozepur Bhupinder Singh confirmed that the trio has a record of multiple serious crimes and further arrests and weapon recoveries are expected.
