Chandigarh, March 27, 2025: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has arrested Vikas Kumar, a Quality Control Manager at the Food Storage Depot, Food Corporation of India (FCI), Patiala, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹50,000.
An official spokesperson of the VB revealed that the arrest followed a complaint by a rice mill owner from Bhunarheri, Patiala district. The complainant alleged that the FCI official had demanded ₹1 lakh to facilitate the storage of rice shelled from paddy purchased by Markfed.
Following a preliminary investigation, the VB laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting ₹50,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
A case has been registered at the VB Police Station, Patiala Range. The accused will be presented in court tomorrow, and further investigation is ongoing.
