Moga, Punjab, July 4 — In a shocking daylight attack, Dr. Aniljit Kamboj, father of renowned Punjabi actress Tania, was critically injured after being shot at his clinic in Kot Isei Khan, Moga district, on Sunday afternoon.
Police reports state that two unidentified assailants arrived on a motorcycle and entered Harbans Nursing Home, posing as patients seeking treatment. Once inside, they allegedly engaged Dr. Kamboj in conversation before firing multiple shots at close range.
Dr. Kamboj suffered two bullet injuries and was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Moga, where he remains in critical condition.
Authorities suspect the attack was premeditated. Police sources revealed that Dr. Kamboj had reportedly received threats in the past, though no official complaint had been lodged. “The assailants came prepared. They posed as patients and fired at close range. All angles, including extortion, are under investigation,” said the Superintendent of Police, Moga.
The crime scene has been sealed off as forensic teams gather evidence. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby locations to trace the attackers. A manhunt is underway, with special teams deployed and checkpoints set up across the district.
