Bathinda, February 16, 2025– In a tragic incident, a father shot and killed his only son following a domestic dispute in Chak Ruldu Singh Wala village on Sunday. The accused, Sukhwinder Singh, used his licensed 12-bore revolver to commit the crime.
The police from Sangat police station reached the scene after receiving information and arrested the accused. A case of murder has been registered against him, and the murder weapon has been confiscated. The victim’s body has been sent for post-mortem at Bathinda Civil Hospital.
Frequent Disputes Led to Tragedy
According to the victim’s wife, Harpinder Kaur, there were ongoing tensions between her husband, Arshpreet Singh (34), and his father. The two frequently fought over family matters and land disputes. On Saturday night and Sunday morning, they argued again, which ultimately led to the fatal shooting.
Accused Arrested, Investigation Underway
SHO Paras Chahal stated that Sukhwinder Singh fired multiple shots at his son inside their house and then attempted to flee. Arshpreet was rushed to a private hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The victim was the only son of the family and leaves behind his wife, two daughters, mother, and grandmother. Based on his wife’s statement, the police have registered a murder case and arrested the father.
