Farmers to Get Assured MSP Purchase as Haryana CM Announces Major Reforms for Kharif Season

Chandigarh, September 10 – Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini reviewed preparations for the upcoming Kharif procurement season in a high-level meeting with administrative officials at the Civil Secretariat. He directed that farmers should not face any inconvenience during the procurement process and ordered round-the-clock presence of inspectors in every mandi and procurement center. The CM warned of strict action in case of negligence.

Food and Civil Supplies Minister Rajesh Nagar, along with senior officials including CM’s Principal Chief Secretary Rajesh Khullar, Principal Secretary Arun Kumar Gupta, and senior officers from Food Corporation of India and HAFED were also present in the meeting.

Saini assured that crops will be procured at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) already fixed by the government. He instructed officials to send farmers SMS notifications about the designated mandi for procurement and ensure gate passes are delivered directly to their mobile phones. He also emphasized the use of scanners so that farmers can easily download gate passes without hassle.

Encouraging diversification, the CM announced bonuses on soybean, black sesame, urad, and tur (pigeon pea). He also stressed the need to purchase advanced machines for moisture testing and to establish labs in mandis, ensuring transparency and farmer-friendly practices.

Highlighting the need for modern infrastructure, the CM directed officials to ensure provision of safe drinking water, drainage, sanitation, crop security, and digital/electronic weighing scales. Adequate arrangements for high-quality storage and tarpaulin covers were also mandated to prevent crop damage from rains.

For the 2025-26 Kharif marketing year, the government has fixed MSP rates: paddy (common) at ₹2,369 per quintal, Grade-A paddy at ₹2,389, hybrid jowar at ₹3,699, maldandi jowar at ₹3,749, bajra at ₹2,775, maize at ₹2,400, tur/arhar at ₹8,000, moong at ₹8,768, urad at ₹7,800, groundnut at ₹7,263, yellow soybean at ₹5,328, sesame at ₹9,846 and black sesame at ₹9,537 per quintal.
