Farmers Rejoice as Haryana CM Saini Increases Sugarcane Price; Calls It a Diwali Gift for Growers

Chandigarh, October 25 — A wave of happiness has swept across Haryana’s farming community following Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s decision to increase the state advisory price (SAP) of sugarcane. Farmers, particularly from sugarcane-dominant districts, have hailed the move as a “Diwali gift” from the Chief Minister to cultivators.

Every day, groups of farmers and members of the Kisan Morcha have been visiting the Chief Minister’s residence, Sant Kabir Kutir, to express their gratitude. Farmers are presenting sugarcane stalks as a symbol of appreciation and joy.

CM Saini, who comes from a farming background, has been known for his consistent commitment to farmer welfare. Marking the completion of his first year in office, he took a landmark decision to increase the SAP of sugarcane by ₹15 per quintal — a move that has been widely praised across the state.

Under the new rates, the price of the early variety of sugarcane has been raised from ₹400 to ₹415 per quintal, while the late variety has been increased from ₹393 to ₹408 per quintal. The decision is expected to boost farmers’ incomes and further strengthen Haryana’s agricultural economy.

Expressing their gratitude, farmers from Kaithal and Karnal districts, including several women sugarcane producers, said that the Chief Minister’s decision has infused new energy and optimism among cultivators.

During the thanksgiving visit, several prominent farmer leaders and members of the Kisan Morcha, including OSD to the Chief Minister Bharat Bhushan Bharti, Rajbala Chahal, Sunil Vats, Dinesh Pujar, Vinod Gonder, Rajbir Chauhan, Mandeep Virk, Subhash Hajwana, and Sanjay Saini, were present at the Chief Minister’s residence.
