Farmers Protest Outside Dera Bassi MLA’s Office, Raising Strong Slogans

Dera Bassi, March 10 – Farmers from various organizations under the banner of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha staged a massive protest outside the office of Dera Bassi MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa at the local truck union. The protest was led by farmer leaders, including Manpreet Singh Amlala, Karam Singh Barauli (BKU Lakhowal), Lakhwinder Singh Happy Malkapur, Gurbhajan Singh Dharmgarh (BKU Ugrahan), Karam Singh Karkaur, Avtar Singh Jawaharpur (BKU Rajewal), and others. Labor leaders and representatives from multiple farmer unions also participated, demanding solutions to their long-pending issues with the Punjab government.

The situation took an unexpected turn when MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa suddenly arrived at the protest site, leading to loud slogans against him. The farmers, showing their discontent, returned the apples and bananas he had brought for them. The protest, which started around 11 AM, was marked by fiery speeches from leaders who accused the Punjab government of following the central government’s anti-farmer policies.

Speakers criticized Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for allegedly disrespecting senior farmer leaders who have more experience than him. They argued that the government is deliberately trying to defame them despite their peaceful protests. The farmers also questioned the purpose of electing representatives if they fail to stand by the people who voted for them.

A large number of farmers from surrounding villages participated in the demonstration, making it one of the most significant protests in recent times.
