FARIDKOT (Gurpreet Singh): Punjab Police have claimed a major success against a cross-border narcotics network with the arrest of four alleged operatives and the recovery of 47.3 kg of heroin, along with firearms and ammunition.
The operation was carried out by Faridkot Police, who also seized three pistols, three magazines, 15 cartridges and two vehicles during the investigation.
According to police, the preliminary probe indicates that the arrested suspects were allegedly part of a network involved in bringing heroin and illegal weapons across the border into Punjab.
Probe underway to trace wider network
Police said an FIR has been registered at Sadiq police station in Faridkot. Investigators are now working to identify other individuals associated with the alleged smuggling operation and establish both its forward and backward links.
The investigation is expected to focus on how the consignments were sourced, transported and distributed, as well as the channels allegedly used to move weapons and narcotics into the state.
Officials said the latest arrests form part of the Punjab Police’s continued efforts to monitor and disrupt cross-border drug trafficking and organised criminal networks.
The force has maintained that operations against narcotics and illegal arms trafficking will continue, particularly against networks suspected of operating across international borders.
Further arrests and recoveries could follow as investigators work to establish the complete structure of the alleged network.
