Mansa (National Times): On the birth anniversary of legendary Punjabi singer and rapper Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, widely known as Sidhu Moosewala, fans were treated to a posthumous musical gift as three unreleased songs were dropped on his official YouTube channel.
The songs — “0008”, “Neal”, and “Take Notes” — are part of an extended play titled “Moose Print”, adding to the growing body of work released after his untimely demise in May 2022. With these tracks, a total of 11 songs have been released posthumously, each keeping the legacy of the artist alive.
The release came just five hours after BBC World Service aired two episodes of its documentary The Killing Call, which explores the circumstances surrounding Moosewala’s murder in Jawaharke village, Mansa district, on May 29, 2022.
Earlier this week, Moosewala’s father Balkaur Singh had confirmed the June 11 release as a special tribute to his son’s memory. True to his word, the songs were unveiled and immediately went viral, garnering millions of views within hours. Fans flooded the comment sections with messages of love, grief, and appreciation.
Sidhu Moosewala’s impact on Punjabi music and youth culture continues to be profound. His iconic tracks like “So High”, “295”, and “Same Beef” still dominate playlists and inspire emerging artists worldwide.
