Elon Musk Walks Back Donald Trump Attacks Amid Public Fallout

Elon Musk Warns of U.S. Bankruptcy, Criticizes Government Spending and Trade Deficit

San Francisco (National Times): In a surprising turn of events, tech billionaire Elon Musk has publicly expressed regret over recent inflammatory posts aimed at President Donald Trump, signaling a potential cooling-off after a week of digital warfare between the two.

Posting on his social media platform X, Musk admitted: “I regret some of my posts about President Donald Trump last week. They went too far.”

The statement comes just days after a dramatic and very public exchange of insults between the Tesla founder and the U.S. President. What began as a disagreement over Trump’s newly passed tax and spending bill, referred to by Musk as a “disgusting abomination”, escalated into a broader feud that included accusations, conspiracy theories, and political threats.

Musk had also claimed that Trump owed his 2024 election victory in part to Musk’s financial contributions and suggested that Trump should face impeachment proceedings. Most controversially, he alluded to Trump’s alleged connection to the Jeffrey Epstein case, claiming that was the reason for certain sealed files not being released to the public—an assertion with no supporting evidence.

The friction reached a climax when Trump declared, “My relationship with Musk is over.” While it remains unclear whether Musk’s latest statement signals a desire for reconciliation or merely damage control, it highlights the increasingly volatile intersection of tech, politics, and personal ego in today’s public discourse.

Critics have pointed out that Musk’s massive platform gives his words significant weight, and that such explosive claims, however quickly regretted, can have real-world consequences.

Observers now watch closely to see whether this truce holds or if the feud reignites in a political landscape that increasingly blurs the lines between influence and governance.
