Elderly Amritdhari Woman Killed in Early-Morning Robbery While Heading to Gurdwara in Tarn Taran

National Times Bureau :- Tarn Taran witnessed a shocking crime in the early hours of the morning when an elderly Amritdhari woman lost her life after being attacked by robbers while she was on her way to a gurdwara. The incident has once again raised serious concerns over the deteriorating law-and-order situation in the district.

According to available information, the woman, a resident of a village in the Tarn Taran district, was heading to the local gurdwara as part of her daily routine when she was intercepted by three armed assailants. The attackers allegedly attempted to snatch the gold earrings she was wearing. During the robbery, they assaulted her with a sharp-edged weapon, inflicting severe head injuries before fleeing the scene with the jewellery.

The injured woman was immediately rushed to a hospital in Amritsar by family members, where doctors declared her dead during treatment. The deceased has been identified as Tasveer Kaur, an elderly Amritdhari Sikh woman known in the village for her regular religious observance.

Speaking to the media, her husband stated that the attack occurred around 4 a.m. while they were walking together towards the gurdwara. He alleged that the assailants struck suddenly and escaped before anyone could intervene.

Police officials confirmed that a case has been registered at Khadoor Sahib police station against one identified suspect along with two unidentified persons. An investigation is underway, and teams have been deployed to trace and arrest the accused. The police claim that efforts are being made to analyse local CCTV footage and gather technical evidence.

The incident has sparked anger and fear among local residents, who allege that incidents of robbery and violent crime have become increasingly frequent, especially during early morning hours. Villagers have demanded increased police patrolling and strict action against those involved, warning that such crimes are eroding the sense of safety among ordinary citizens.

Police authorities have assured the public that the culprits will be brought to justice at the earliest.
