Education Secretary Flags Off NSS Adventure Camp for Youth Leadership and Outdoor Training

Chandigarh ( Naval Kishore): The Education Secretary of Chandigarh Administration, Ms. Prerna Puri, along with Ms. Radhika Singh, Director of Higher Education, on Monday flagged off a 10-day State-Level Adventure Camp for National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers heading to Manali, Himachal Pradesh. The camp will take place from March 18 to March 28, 2026, providing young volunteers with an opportunity to participate in adventure and leadership activities.
The camp is being organized by the Chandigarh NSS Cell in collaboration with the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (ABVIMAS), located in Manali, Himachal Pradesh.

According to Dr. Nemi Chand, State Liaison Officer of NSS, a total of 60 NSS volunteers from 22 higher educational institutions are participating in the camp. The participants include students from Panjab University and Punjab Engineering College (PEC), along with other colleges and institutions in Chandigarh. During the 10-day program, volunteers will engage in a variety of adventure and outdoor training activities such as mountaineering, rock climbing, trekking, skiing, water sports, aero sports, and mountain biking. These activities are designed to promote physical fitness, teamwork, discipline, and leadership qualities among young participants. While addressing the volunteers, Education Secretary Prerna Puri and Director of Higher Education Radhika Singh congratulated the students and appreciated the efforts of the Chandigarh NSS Cell for organizing the initiative. They emphasized that such programs play a crucial role in the holistic development of youth, encouraging confidence, resilience, and a spirit of service among volunteers.

The officials also highlighted that adventure camps provide a unique platform for students to learn survival skills, strengthen teamwork, and develop leadership abilities, which are essential for their personal and professional growth. The camp is expected to offer an enriching experience to the participants while strengthening the values and objectives of the National Service Scheme (NSS) in nurturing responsible and capable young citizens.
