New Delhi, September, 14, 2025: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has called Bollywood actor Urvashi Rautela and former parliamentarian Mimi Chakraborty for questioning in connection with its probe into the illegal betting platform 1xBet. Both are required to appear at the agency’s Delhi office on September 16.
According to officials, the case involves allegations of money laundering linked to online betting operations that used surrogate advertising and digital payment channels to collect funds from users across India.
The ED has already questioned several high-profile figures in the matter. Cricketer Shikhar Dhawan was examined last week, while former Indian batsman Suresh Raina was questioned in August. Investigators are scrutinizing celebrity endorsements, the fees received for such promotions, and the extent of their engagement with the betting companies.
The agency has also sought clarification from representatives of Google and Meta regarding the role of their platforms in carrying betting advertisements.
The summons are part of the ED’s wider campaign against illegal online betting networks, which it claims pose both financial and social risks in the country.
