National Times Bureau :- District Magistrate Viraj S. Tidke has declared August 15 as a Dry Day in Malerkotla in view of Independence Day celebrations.
No sale or serving of alcohol will be allowed in hotels, liquor shops, clubs, restaurants, or any other public or private places on this day.
The order bans the sale, distribution, or serving of liquor or similar intoxicating substances in any form. Even establishments with valid licenses to store or serve alcohol will not be allowed to do so on August 15.
The administration noted that Independence Day is celebrated across the country with great enthusiasm. However, there are often concerns about public disorder caused by alcohol consumption on such occasions. This measure aims to maintain law and order throughout the district during the national celebration.
