Anandpur Sahib (Gurpreet Singh): Dr Gurpreet Kaur Mann, wife of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, joined women at a special Teej celebration organised in Anandpur Sahib on Wednesday, as beneficiaries of the Mukh Mantri Maavan-Dheeyan Satkar Yojna received financial assistance directly in their bank accounts ahead of Raksha Bandhan.
The programme was organised in the Anandpur Sahib Assembly constituency represented by Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains. Women participated in traditional Teej festivities, including folk songs, music and cultural activities.
Women Receive Financial Assistance Ahead Of Raksha Bandhan
The celebrations coincided with the transfer of financial assistance to women registered under the Maavan-Dheeyan Satkar Yojna.
Several beneficiaries attending the programme said the assistance would help them meet personal expenses, household requirements and other day-to-day needs. They said the direct transfer of money into their bank accounts also gave them greater control over their own expenditure.
For many of the women present, the assistance was described not only as financial support but also as a measure that could contribute to greater economic independence and confidence.
Dr Gurpreet Kaur Mann Interacts With Women At Teej Event
During the programme, Dr Gurpreet Kaur Mann interacted with beneficiaries and joined them in the Teej festivities. Women shared their experiences with her and spoke about how they were using the assistance received under the state government’s scheme.
The event saw women take part in traditional songs and cultural performances, turning the gathering into a celebration of Punjab’s Teej traditions alongside discussions on women’s financial empowerment.
Beneficiaries Thank Bhagwant Mann Government
Women present at the event expressed gratitude to the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government over the financial assistance and said the scheme had helped them manage several household and personal expenses.
Some beneficiaries also expressed political support for Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the Aam Aadmi Party and said they wanted the government to continue its initiatives aimed at strengthening women’s economic position.
The expressions of political support came from beneficiaries attending the event and should be viewed in that context.
The Anandpur Sahib programme comes as the Punjab government continues to promote the Maavan-Dheeyan Satkar Yojna as one of its key women-focused welfare initiatives, with direct financial assistance being transferred to registered beneficiaries.
