Trump Flags Concern Over Iran’s Conduct in Hormuz, Demands Unhindered Oil Transit

After Iran Truce, Trump Targets Allies, Revives Greenland Debate

Washington (Rajeev Sharma): US President Donald Trump has raised fresh concerns over Iran’s actions in the crucial Strait of Hormuz, warning against any reported attempts to levy charges on vessels passing through the narrow maritime corridor.

In posts shared on Truth Social, Trump said he had come across reports suggesting that Iran may be demanding fees from tankers using the route. He made it clear that such a move would be unacceptable and urged Tehran to immediately refrain from any such activity if the claims are accurate.

The US leader also accused Iran of failing to ensure smooth oil movement through the strait, stating that the situation does not align with what he described as an existing understanding. His remarks hinted at growing frustration within Washington over developments in the region.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical artery for global energy supplies, carrying a substantial share of the world’s crude oil shipments. Any disruption or restriction in this passage has the potential to impact international markets and heighten geopolitical tensions.

Trump’s statements come at a time when the Middle East is witnessing heightened uncertainty, with global stakeholders closely monitoring developments that could affect energy security and trade routes.
