Washington D.C. (National Times): Former U.S. President Donald J. Trump has issued a fiery clarification regarding his early departure from the G7 Summit in Canada, directly contradicting statements made by French President Emmanuel Macron. In a post shared Tuesday morning on his social media platform, Trump refuted Macron’s claim that the trip back to Washington was intended to broker a ceasefire between Israel and Iran.
“Publicity seeking President Emmanuel Macron, of France, mistakenly said that I left the G7 Summit, in Canada, to go back to D.C. to work on a ‘cease fire’ between Israel and Iran. Wrong!” Trump wrote in the post, adding, “He has no idea why I am now on my way to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a Cease Fire. Much bigger than that.”
Trump did not elaborate on what the “much bigger” issue might be, leaving political observers and international analysts speculating on the nature of his sudden return. The post concluded with a characteristic jab at Macron, stating, “Whether purposely or not, Emmanuel always gets it wrong. Stay Tuned!”
The remarks come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East and growing international concern over the possibility of military escalation between Israel and Iran. Macron, who has positioned himself as a key diplomatic voice in Europe, had earlier suggested that Trump’s early exit was part of a U.S.-led effort to de-escalate that crisis.
As of this report, there has been no official response from the White House or President Joe Biden’s administration regarding the purpose of Trump’s trip or his comments.
Trump’s social media post has already drawn significant attention, racking up over 1,000 “ReTruths” and 4,000 likes within hours of its publication.
