Dominance of Haryana Police in Digital Policing: Ranked Number-1 Seventeen Times in Last 20 Months

Chandigarh, August 5. In the monthly rankings of the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS) released by the National Crime Records Bureau, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, Haryana Police has once again made its mark by securing the first position in the country for the 17th time in the last 20 months. On this remarkable achievement, Director General of Police Mr. Shatrujeet Kapur congratulated the entire CCTNS team and said that this success is a result of Haryana Police’s new approach, improved working methods, and effective use of modern technology.

Director General of Police Mr. Shatrujeet Kapur said that this achievement reflects the new thinking and professional approach of Haryana Police, where technology has been made an integral part of policing. He stated that digital platforms like CCTNS and NAFIS have accelerated the processes of criminal identification, transparent investigation, and timely justice delivery to citizens. He expressed confidence that with this dedication and teamwork, Haryana Police will continue to set benchmarks in modern and smart policing across the country.

New Heights Achieved Through Technological Reforms
Director of the State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB), Sibash Kabiraj, informed that the core objective of CCTNS is to develop a fully digital and integrated system for crime investigation, criminal tracking, and case management. He said that several major changes have been implemented over the last two years to enhance technical efficiency and streamline processes within SCRB. As a result of these efforts, Haryana Police has secured the first position nationwide 17 times in the last 20 months.

Outstanding Performance in National Rankings
In this monthly ranking released by the Central Government, Haryana Police has delivered excellent performance across various parameters. While the state secured the third position nationwide with a score of 99.99 percent in August and September 2024, it maintained the first position with a perfect 100 percent score in other months. Today, all police stations in the state are connected to CCTNS, and all operations such as First Information Reports, Non-Cognizable Reports, Medico-Legal Cases, Missing Persons, Lost Property, Unclaimed Items, Unknown Dead Bodies, Foreign Registration, Preventive Actions, Investigations, Complaints, and Progress Reports are recorded and monitored entirely in digital form.

Success in Criminal Identification and Case Resolution through NAFIS
The use of technology in criminal identification and solving complex cases has taken Haryana Police to new heights. Since 2022, millions of fingerprints have been uploaded on the NAFIS software, and they have been matched with records of arrested accused and unidentified dead bodies. A significant number of fingerprint matches have been successfully found with criminal records. Chance prints collected from crime scenes were successfully uploaded and verified on NAFIS. As a result of this technological success, 93 serious criminal cases have been solved, including 22 murder cases. Additionally, 29 unidentified dead bodies have been identified through the NAFIS system.

100 Percent Success in Training and Cyber Helpline
To equip police personnel with effective use of technology, Haryana Police organized 72 workshops. The impact of modern technology is also visible in the field of cybercrime. On the National Cyber Helpline 1930, Haryana Police achieved a 100 percent score, meaning every single call was attended promptly and immediate action was ensured.
